Where 45W fits
A 45W USB-C PD source can fully cover devices whose charging target is 45W or less. It can also charge many higher-power laptops, but often below their preferred or fast-charge rate. That matters most when the computer is under sustained load.
A 60W cable is enough for 45W
For a genuine 45W power path, a sound USB-C cable rated for 60W has sufficient power headroom. The cable can still affect data speed and build quality, so power rating is not the only cable property.
